End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture 

The Smurfit Kappa Foundation are deeply committed to supporting the local communities across the 36 countries in which we operate. View a snapshot of the projects we have undertaken below, all of which aligns to one of our focus UN SDGs, "Zero Hunger".

We would like to acknowledge that whilst these projects are aligned to our focus UN SDG of Zero Hunger, many also contribute to other United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

EL Colegio - El Salvador
El Colegio offers kindergarten education to over 600 children from the community that surrounds Smurfit Kappa´s operation in San Salvador.  A donation of US$139,000 from Smurfit Kappa Foundation helped improve education quality, school meals, infrastructure and teacher training.

Proyecto DUO – Colombia
Proyecto DUO is a safe environment for 180 children from disadvantaged areas that provides after school academic support, nutrition (for many the only comprehensive meal of the day) and basic health checks. Our US$15,000 donation helped fund their project to improve classroom conditions, providing them with adequate furniture, storage space and whiteboards.

El Caracoli – Colombia
The project targets children under six who come from a low socio-economic background. El Caracoli provides these children and their families with basic medical care, nutrition, education and development monitoring. A donation of €300,000 was made from the Smurfit Kappa Foundation to help fund the supply of these basic needs for children.
